Our story

Hospitality is a value handed down from parents to children, it is cultivated from childhood and becomes enriched by a taste for food, a passion for cooking, a desire of being together and making friends…

… so in 2013, we decided to give life to La Casa di Sara, in the hope that this first step would be the beginning of a long journey.

nearby

Albinea is an ideal tourist destination..

Within a few minutes walking distance, you can reach breathtaking landscapes and the best cultural and gastronomic destinations.

Walking along Via Chiesa, you can visit the Catholic Church Pieve di Albinea (La Pieve di Albinea), attributed to the 11th century, but, most likely, it was built in the pre-Roman period. Nearby there is the Castle of Albinea (Castello di Albinea) whose construction was completed in 1070 by order of the Fogliani family; it now belongs to the Maramotti family. It may be viewed externally only.

Also, you can see numerous houses that previously belonged to the richest families of Reggio Emilia, including Villa Moratti, Villa Calvi, belonging to the 18th century, as well as Arnaud Villa (Villa Arnò) made in the palladio style and Villa Tarabini, also known for its annual summer Festival of Jazz.

Villa Tarabini belongs to the Municipality of Albinea. It also houses the Municipal Vinegar Factory which was founded in 2008, thanks to the collaboration between the Municipality and the Consortium. In 2017, the Balsamic vinegar produced in the charming Tarabini villa received The Gold Stamp for Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Reggio Emilia.

Villa Sidoli – Rossi, whose origins may refer to the 17th century, in 1945, together with Villa Calvi, were the headquarters of the German 5th Command including the mapping office, the headquarters of the upper offices and the telephone switchboard in direct connection with Berlin. In the night between 26 and 27 March 1945, British and Russian paratroopers flanked by the group of partisans “Black Owls”, commanded by Glauco Monducci called “Gordon”, carried out an assault on Villa Rossi. The building belonged to Giuditta Sidoli Risorgimento heroine Reggiana, and it is said that Giuseppe Mazzini frequented his house at the time of the “Young Italy”.

Albinea is part of the Road of Wines and Flavours with the other fourteen communes of Reggio Emilia, where landscape, soil and age-old agriculture make it one of the most interesting cities of Italy.

Every restaurant, every grocery shop, every agritourism, all seem to transmit a sense of continuity and awareness of this authenticity which is the real wealth of Reggio Emilia.

In a few minutes you can reach the historical centre of the city where you can visit: the Cathedral of Reggio Emilia, dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta, whose history dates back to the 10th century; The Basilica of Saint Prospero, the ancient church consecrated in 997 and dedicated to Bishop Prospero who was proclaimed as the Holy Protector of the town.

It takes a few minutes by car to reach Quattro Castella (the four twin hills) where there are many castles. Among them only Bianello has been preserved intact in its structure which makes it a splendid historical residence.

If history is not your cup of tea, you can just relax walking through the ancient villages of Albinea.
